We agree on a person or team, the kind of day to observe, access, confidentiality, and whether the work happens remotely or in person. I follow real tasks and ask questions as the work moves between people and tools.
What we learn
Afterward, I bring back the repeated work I noticed, information that was hard to find, decisions that belong with a person, and a few candidate improvements. We discuss which one is practical enough to test first.
